Following a request received by our shipyard, a tanker vessel that had taken the wrong chemical into its cargo tanks suffered damage to its coating. As a result, the cargo tanks required a full recoating process.
The vessel was moored at our shipyard, where a thorough inspection was conducted in coordination with the coating surveyor, and the necessary steps for the process were determined. The Marine Line coating application was carried out following these steps:
• The cargo tanks were initially washed with high-pressure fresh water.
• Abrasive blasting was performed, achieving SA2 surface quality.
• After blasting, surface inspections were conducted, and thorough grit cleaning was completed.
• A second round of SA2 abrasive blasting was carried out to reach the required surface standard.
• A detailed cleaning process was conducted to completely remove any remaining grit.
• The tanks were heated and dehumidified using humidifier devices.
• Marine Line coating was applied, and the curing process was completed.
Upon the successful completion of all procedures, the vessel was delivered to its owner. The vessel continues its operations smoothly without any issues.
