The tugboat KURTARMA 11, which is under the authority of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, arrived at our shipyard for maintenance and repairs as part of its special survey. After the dry-docking operation, the following maintenance activities were carried out:
• All tanks were cleaned and inspected under the supervision of the classification surveyor.
• The vessel's hull coating was examined under the paint survey, surface preparation was performed using grit blasting at the required levels, and all paint layers were renewed.
• All overboard valves in the engine room were dismantled, serviced, and reassembled.
• All box coolers onboard the vessel were removed, chemically cleaned, and tested.
• All copper anodes of the ICAF system were replaced, and system updates were performed via an electronic switch.
One of the most distinctive features of this tugboat is its Wärtsilä WST-24 propulsion system. Out of only eight such systems worldwide, two are installed on KURTARMA 11. Major maintenance was carried out under the supervision of a service expert from Wärtsilä, including necessary inspections and component replacements, after which the system was reassembled.
Upon the completion of all operations, sea trials were successfully conducted, and the tugboat was delivered to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety without any issues.
