BWTS Ballast Water Treatment System

Esenkıyı Shipyard holds advanced technical capability for the integration of modern, environmentally compliant systems in line with IMO’s Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM) and MARPOL Annex VI regulations. We provide turnkey installation and retrofit services for Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (Scrubbers) across newbuilds and existing vessels.

BWTS projects include system selection (UV reactors, electrochlorination, or filtration-based), 3D laser scanning for layout design, flow rate calculations, interface automation, pipe routing, and electrical integration. All work complies with IMO MEPC.174(58) and USCG Type Approval guidelines, and is executed under class supervision with FAT and HAT testing protocols.

Scrubber systems (open-loop, closed-loop, hybrid) are integrated with custom exhaust bypass manifolds, washwater circulation and treatment systems, NOx/SOx sensor networks, pH control systems, and sludge discharge units. Structural foundations and equipment platforms are fabricated to match vessel configuration and installed as part of retrofit solutions.

For projects where the vessel is not physically docked at our yard, foundation blocks and spools are fabricated to ISO 9001 standards and shipped fully prepared for on-site installation, offering considerable time and cost savings.
